How can I become a member of Encore?
Membership begins with your involvement in the 10 week long program that provides a complete overview of Fayette County’s demographics, public and private organizations, as well as the major issues, opportunities of leadership and volunteer service (See Program & Curriculum)
Participants in the program are selected through an application process. Application forms are on the web site and through a number of community organizations (see Application)
How many participants will be selected for each class?
20 to 30 applicants will be selected for each class
Participants pay $150, a small portion of the total cost of the program. This covers meals, refreshments, program materials, some transportation, etc. The purpose of the tuition is to demonstrate participants’ commitment to the program which has received considerable financial support from local public and private organizations and foundations.
Is tuition assistance available?
Financial assistance may be provided for individuals who demonstrate a need. Assistance requests should be submitted with the application in order to be considered
How are participants selected?
Class members are selected based on the individual’s potential for volunteer service, leadership and demonstrated interest/desire for community involvement. Other factors are geographic representation, work background, ethnicity and gender to ensure that the class is representative of the county.
How do graduates stay involved?
Participants have the opportunity to be paired up with the best possible organization/volunteer matches with their interests, skills and schedules. They become members of the Encore! Fayette Alumni group; help to plan future programs and participate in a number of ongoing, well planned continuing education programs as well as social events.
Since tuition only covers a small portion of the program cost, individuals, corporations, civic/social organizations and foundations provide generous financial and in kind support.
How can I support Encore! Fayette?
Encore! Fayette welcomes program sponsors, program day hosts, member event sponsors and donations to the Scholarship Fund.
